Fruit orchard planting finished on Pine Ridge
Our former assistant marketing director, Mark Kenneth Tilsen, took part in planting a fruit orchard on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in S.D., last week. Mark is now the marketing support and cultural coordinator for Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation in Porcupine, S.D.

The non-profit organization Earth Tipi won the orchard with nearly 30,000 votes through an online contest with Edy's Fruit Bars brand. The orchard, planted 2.35 miles south of Manderson, S.D., has approximately 45 trees on it.

"Feeding ourselves is a vital part of creating a sustainable lakota way of life," Mark said. " It is a joy when the work we do walks hand in hand with our beliefs."
