Pine Ridge emersion students visit Tanka Bar office, try new Tanka flavor

July 08, 2010

Patrick Lynch and his students are holding up our new Apple Orange Peel Bars, due out in August 2013.
Patrick Lynch (pictured in the back right corner in the above photo) worked with Red Cloud School on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in the 1990s.

Now he works at Saint Ignatius College Preparatory in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. On July 3, Mr. Lynch brought a group of his students to the Tanka headquarters. Saint Ignatius is a sister school to Red Cloud, which hosted the group for two weeks.

This is the first time they visited our office and they all enjoyed the tour of the building. It feels good to know that they would like to make this a part of their tour for next year. The purpose of the group is to visit several of their sister schools -- traveling the country and teaching spirituality.

A lot of the kids were from inner-city and suburban locations so they hadn't really seen an Indian reservation up until this visit. They talked about all the amazing things they were experiencing, but most of all they couldn't believe how quiet it is here.

We wish them a wonderful, safe journey and thank them for stopping by for a visit.
