Volunteers from the Church of the Brethren have been helping around the Kyle, SD, area for around 15 years.
The Church of the Brethren is a gathering from places all over the U.S. -- Michigan, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Florida, and Kansas. This year is its 25th anniversary. Members have been stopping by to visit us since we started here at Tanka Bar.
Along with being from all over the country, the Church of the Brethren is Christ based but is not one religious denomination. The group that visited us stayed in an apartment in Kyle for a week and had just finished a nature walk where they learned about edible plants.
That made the next stop here perfect; they all learned about the Tanka Bar and how it is based on a traditional Lakota food. Besides taking nature walks, they kept themselves busy for the week by painting, gardening, building, and also working with the local kids at the school.
The Tanka Bar staff would like to thank them for the work that they do for our community.
