Tanka Spotlight: MUNCH OF FUN

Since our launch in October 2007, we have been privileged to work with outstanding retail partners. These folks are so passionate about their businesses and their customers we decided we needed to share their unique stories. If you'd like to be featured, or if you'd like to nominate a Tanka retailer for a story, please contact Jenice Johnson at jenicejohnson@tankabar.com.

Kristen Griffiths has three boys, one with special needs, which influenced her to always have a passion for preparing healthy meals for them.

"However, they, like most children, still love processed meal kits, drive-through kids' meals, and any food that includes a toy," she said. "Therefore, I decided to create healthy meal combinations that include delicious healthy foods and fun toys for Mom's like myself looking for meals that our kids can enjoy as often as they like without the guilt."

Her business, MUNCH OF FUN, is a convenient, do-it-yourself meal that comes in a colorful package with a fun surprise. Tanka products are offered in some of the meals.

Tanka Bar: What makes your store special or stand out from other online shops?

Kristen Griffiths: MUNCH OF FUN meals do not contain the processed foods, colors and chemicals that most foods packaged for children contain. They are also shelf stable, so meals can be purchased for the month and stored in the pantry for busy mornings before school. They are delivered to the door, which is even more convenient than fast food.

TB: What are some valuable lessons you learned starting and/or managing your business?

KG: I had to test hundreds of foods on hundreds of kids to find enough foods such as Tanka that all kids agreed were winners. It was very important to me that I allowed children to choose not only the foods, but also the packaging and toys.

TB: Tell me something interesting or fun about your community.

KG: As small as it is, Key Biscayne, Florida, is the home of Crandon Park Tennis Center, Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, Crandon Park Beach, the Cape Florida Lighthouse, and Crandon Golf. Our village has a small, close-knit community feel. Best of all, our island is FULL of kids!

TB: What are some things customers have said that they like about your online store?

KG: MUNCH OF FUN is easy to navigate, colorful, and child-friendly. It includes photos and food labels of each food available so that customers can be sure they are ordering a healthy meal their kids will love. My blog contains recipes and photos of breakfasts, dinners, snacks and appetizers that kids and adults can agree on and prepare together.

TB: What have your customers said about Tanka?

KG: My elementary-age taste-testers were CRAZY about Tanka Bars and Sticks. Every single child loved them, which made them clear winners for my lunch boxes!
