Our authentic Lakota hand-painted buffalo hide by Lakota artist Sonja Holy Eagle will adorn Whole Food Market on Lamar, March 13-16, to help celebrate the launch of Onnit products at Whole Foods.
The 7 x 7 foot painted hide is the centerpiece of a national campaign by the Tanka Fund to return buffalo to Native American lands, lives and economies. Tanka Fund is offering everyone in America the chance to win this buffalo hide for free, and be part of the historic return. Mark Tilsen, president of Native American Natural Foods, will be at the event and share the story of the hide and Tanka Fund.
Onnit, an industry leader in health and fitness, is the largest retail donor to the Tanka Fund and has given their time and marketing savvy to help build the campaign for the buffaloes' return.
Along with featuring the Tanka Fund hide at their Whole Foods launch, Onnit has produced a special buffalo t-shirt that will be sold at Whole Foods stores regionally, with a portion of the proceeds going to Tanka Fund. The shirt features an artistic rendition of a buffalo that brings the power and strength of this animal to life.
"We're bringing our hand painted prize hide to Whole Foods to support Onnit's launch of its products," said Mark Tilsen. "We can't thank Onnit enough for their support and commitment to bringing buffalo back to Indian Country."
The Tanka Fund hide is traveling the country to engage the public in returning buffalo to Native peoples. Enter the free sweepstakes to win the hide at tankafund.org/win or text TANKA to 313131.
Tanka Fund is a partnership between the national non-profit Indian Land Tenure Foundation and Native American Natural Foods, creator of the Tanka brand of healthy buffalo snacks.
