Although it's fall 2014, we're heavily into our planning for 2015. So, we were happy to have Matt Jimenez, Whole Foods Market Global Grocery Buyer, spend a couple of days with us at our Kyle, SD, headquarters visioning the future.
Matt, whose family is from the northern Pueblos in Chihuahua, Mexico, fit right in with our team on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. In addition, his wife is Chickasaw and Choctaw! Whole Foods is focused on working with more authentic indigenous food companies, and Matt is leading the charge.
The days were filled with strategic planning, product ideation, data analysis and all the other things that are involved with planning for the company's future.
Matt also spent time with our staff, explaining why Whole Foods is interested in our small company in middle of a reservation, and why what we are trying to do really matters.
Following the meetings, our founder/president Mark Tilsen and Matt visited Oglala Lakota College, Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation, and the Wounded Knee Memorial.
We're thrilled to have partners like Matt and Whole Foods, who care about our mission, our people and our lands. And we look forward to many years of working together to bring more opportunities to Native American food producers.
President Mark Tilsen and CEO Karlene Hunter with Mr. Jimenez.
